Create your safety plan checklist today, right now. Some items you should have in your safety bag/plan are listed below. Nothing is worth risking your safety or your children’s safety. If you must leave without these items, leave. Identification, financial, legal papers can be replaced.
Plan your escape route. Know ahead of time where you will go, how to get out of your home safely. Know where you are going and what you do once you get to where you are going.
- Your driver’s license
- Birth certificates for you and your children
- Social security cards for you and your children
- Passports for you and your children
- Cash money stashed in an easy-to-get place
- Divorce/custody papers
- Medications for you and/or your children
- Changes of clothing for you and your children
- Children’s favorite toy(s)
- Jewelry or sentimental mementos
